Are you done making excuses?

We can’t control who enters our lives, but we can control our boundaries. One thing that I have struggled with is saying no. Even now, I am struggling to put into paper how much pain this tendency has caused me.

I am choosing to share this because I want to let even just one person know that it is okay to struggle with this. Say no, at least once a day. When you start saying no, you will start feeling a little lighter. Your forehead will feel less furrowed with each unapologetic no.

It is scary to disappoint people, especially when you have grown up being told that your compliance is the only way you can be loved. Say no, so the child in you can start to come out again.

You succeed when you continually try…

Why do you do what you do? Is it to please everyone?

STOP.

Pleasing only leads us to become confused and to not know what we stand for.

YES.

It is okay to do kind things.

BUT.

Not for the sake of being liked.
